Masterclasses are a GO!

Well after a number of delays (on my part) and discussions with a local store I can confirm, with great pleasure, that the Masterclass Painting Clinics for 2012 are on!

This time round, for your delight, we have scheduled not one, but TWO classes.

Mathieu Fontaine, of MANY painting awards fame will be joining us in Vancouver (well, Langley actually) for back-to-back weekends.
We are also delighted to have a new location, for all the days of the classes. This year GameStars, the home of A-Club, will be hosting us. The classes will be held up on their mezzanine floor, above the humdrum of the store, and the space will be laid out with plenty of tables, space and power supply for the you to set up.

Masterclass 1 - February 25th and 26th 2012
This class will focus on the basics; zenithal lighting, colour theory, principles of paint chemistry, paint application, the use of a wet-palette. Using the model provided you'll get to practice shading on cloth, large flesh areas, faces and the painting of real metallics.

Classes are intense! We'll start at 9am and go through to 9pm on the Saturday, starting again at 9am on the Sunday, wrapping it all up by 5pm. That is 20 hours of training from a world-class painter and a superb instructor (I have taken 3 classes with Mathieu in the past, and have at least 2 more booked for 2012!).

There are 20 spots open for this class.

Masterclass 2 - March 3rd and 4th 2012
Masterclass 2 focuses on more advanced techniques, taking your skills to a higher level! The emphasis here is on vehicles, including weathering with oil paints and dry pigments, as well as airbrushing techniques for vehicles and larger scale figurines

Again, we'll start at 9am and go through to 9pm on the Saturday, starting again at 9am on the Sunday, wrapping it all up by 5pm. That is 20 hours of training from Mathieu .

There are 14 spots open for this class.

So what does this all cost, and what do I get?
Well, besides 20 hours of training, most of the materials you need will be provided. All you need to bring is your favorite brushes and some paints. The models will be assembled (I'm so looking forward to that...), advanced materials will be available (oil, pigments) and you'll have the pleasure of 20 hours of banter with like-minded hobbyists!

The cost is based on a number of factors - Mathieu's fee, his flight out and the materials we provide, and the total number of participants. There is no cost associated with his accommodation - I will be hosting him at my house for the week. And putting up with constant critique of my work....

Initially, when you register, we require a non-refundable deposit of $60. Closer to the date when all costs have been finalized you will be asked to pay the balance. At this point we are looking at ~$100 per class (that's $5 per hour...).

Payment is due by PayPal, and we expect you to cover the fees! There should be a button on the side of the page for payment.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail (jkdyer@shaw.ca, and put Masterclass in the subject line)

A-Club, GameStars and Mathieu look forward to your participation!

Cheers!
Jason
